When is Elden Ring being released?
Elden Ring will be released on all platforms on 26 February 2022.
What platforms will the game be available on?
PC, Xbox One, PS4, and PS5.
What type of game is Elden Ring?
Elden Ring is a third-person fantasy adventure set in The Lands Between.
Is this a new Dark Souls?
There’s no doubt the game shares similarities as it’s also developed by Dark Souls creator FromSoftware. It shares game mechanics from Dark Souls and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice which is to be expected. The main difference is that Elden Ring is set in a large open world. If you played Dark Souls, you can expect a similar but not exactly the same experience. Think of it as the next evolutions of the Souls formula.
What has George R.R martin got to do with the game?
Best known for his Game of Thrones series of books and TV series, he was contacted by Hidetaka Miyazaki who asked if he would like to write the backstory. He jumped at the chance.
How big is the game world?
This is not completely known prior to release. Based on what was shown in the Network test in 2021, the game will be large, The Lands Between is split into six different zones and players will be able to tackle each of the zones in any order. The game will guide you down a certain path but you can tackle each zone however you wish.
How many bosses are there?
Each of the six zones will include one main boss, or demigod bosses as they are referred to. There are also plenty of smaller bosses to be found in world.
Will there be dungeons?
There are dungeon areas within each zone, some will contain harder enemies/bosses, but not all. There are six main “Legacy Dungeons” which are instanced and not part of the open world.
There are smaller dungeons out in the world that may or may not reward the player. You’ll have to find them to find out what’s inside.
How many classes are there?
Elden Ring includes the following ten starting classes:
What types of weapons are there?
The main weapons class categories include:

- Reaper
- Sacred Shield
- Spears
- Swords
Does Stealth play a part in the game mechanics?
It can do yes. This is one element from Sekiro that has been included in Elden Ring. It’s up to you how you use it.
Are there mounts?
Players will have access to a mount that can be called upon. The mount is a Spirit mount called Torrent. Torrent can achieve some incredible jumps allowing the player to traverse the world easily.
Can your mount Torrent be killed?
Yes. Players will need to use one Flask of Crimson Tears to bring Torrent back.
Is there mounted combat?
Yes, you will be able to fight while riding.

Is there crafting?
Yes. Players will be able to collect ingredients in the world to craft consumables. See all known crafting materials.
What are Summons?
Players can summon NPC creatures to fight alongside you or to be used as a distraction. These can be collected and upgraded by the player. See the Spirit Ashes page for more.
Is there a Day and Night Cycle?

Is there something like Bonfires from the Souls series?
Yes. For fast travel and resting. However, they are now called Sites of Lost Grace. These also act as guide waypoints in the world and can be seen by the player far in the distance.
What are Ashes of War?
These items can be collected by the player and applied to their weapons at a Site of Grace. These grant the weapon or shield new abilities.
Is there co-op?
Yes. There is support for up to four players.
Players can be summoned into another player’s game but note that players joining a game can move, battle enemies, collect Rune fragments but they cannot progress with quests or rest at Site of Grace. Think of this as asking for help from your friends. This is achieved through t Furlcalling Finger Remedies.
Players can also enter another player’s game via Tarnished Furled Finger. This is not a consumable but when activated alerts other players to your availability to be summoned.
Is there PvP?
Yes, Invasions are back in Elden Ring as well as one on one PvP. Read more about multiplayer.
Players can use an item called the Duelist’s Furled Finger to initiative a fight to the death PvP battle where the winner takes all in the form of Rune fragments.
Players can also become Invaders via the Bloody Finger option and invade another player’s game to hunt them down and take advantage of them if they think they are vulnerable. Invaders are not only vulnerable to the other player but also to the enemies in their world.
Is the Bloodstain feature from Souls included?
Yes, FromSoftware wants you to see what happened to others when you check out a bloodstain.
Will there be haptic feedback on the PS5?
Yes, this has been confirmed
Is there 3D audio on the PS5?
No.
Is there an in-game map?
Yes, and it’s quite detailed. Points of discovery are marked and it’s also used as means to fast-travel.
How long is the game?
Playing through the main route should take around 30 hours according to the developers. However, it’s unlikely you will find everything taking this route on a first playthrough.
